Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of plastic aligners made of patented SmartTrack® material. The aligners are comfortable, fit perfectly to your teeth, and are clear so most people can’t tell you’re wearing them.

Over time, the aligners gradually shift your teeth into a more desirable position to give you the perfectly straight teeth and smile you desire without metal brackets or wires.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Choosing Invisalign clear aligners offers numerous benefits for your smile including:

  • No brackets or wires
  • Aligners are removable when you eat and brush your teeth
  • Most people can’t tell you’re wearing clear aligners
  • Straighter teeth
  • A more aesthetically pleasing smile
  • Easier oral hygiene compared to traditional braces

Aligners are useful for adults and teenagers. Choosing clear aligners can give you the beautiful smile of your dreams in about 12-18 months on average.

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

The first step in Invisalign treatment happens when your provider uses digital scans to capture 3D images of your teeth. They use special software to create a roadmap of your personalized Invisalign treatment plan. This allows you and your dentist to see what your new smile will look like before beginning treatment.

Once your custom aligners are ready, begin wearing them for 20-22 hours every day. Take them out when you brush your teeth and eat, but wear the aligners when you sleep at night. Keep them clean by brushing with a toothbrush and toothpaste or using the Invisalign cleaning system.

Every few weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners as your teeth gradually shift into proper alignment over time. See your dentist every 4-6 weeks for a checkup. After your treatment is complete, enjoy your new straight teeth and a beautiful smile.

Is Invisalign right for me?

After reviewing your medical and dental history, examining your mouth, and completing X-rays, your dentist lets you know if Invisalign treatment is right for you.

Unless you have a complex oral health issue or severely crooked teeth, chances are you can achieve straight teeth and a beautiful smile with Invisalign.
